Asia opens mostly higher

Asian stock indices opened the first session of the week mixed, with Japan, China, Australia, and South Korea higher, while New Zealand and Hong Kong lost ground, after China's central bank maintained five-year borrowing rates unchanged. 

 

Japan's TOPEX rose 0.56% to 1,745.08, while Nikkei 225 rallied 1.20% to 24,101. 

 

China's CSI 300 climbed 0.41% to 4,171, while Shanghai added 0.32%. 

 

Hong Kong's Hang Seng shed 0.24%, while South Korea's KOSPI rose 0.78% to 2,268. 

 

New Zealand's NZX 50 shed 0.48%, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.36% to 7,089.60.
