Wall Street opens higher, Dow Jones nearly 300 points higher

Wall Street opens higher as the tech and energy sectors rally and on positive developments in trade talks with China. 

 

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced talks today with the US delegation in Beijing solved several sticking points, noting the talks will carry on to next week. 

 

Earlier US data showed imports fell 0.5% last month, with industrial output falling as well. 

 

As of 15:20 GMT, Dow Jones rose 1.3% to 25,766, while Nasdaq added 0.5% to 7,466, with S&P 500 up 0.9% to 2,770.
