US stocks jump on strong data

US stocks rose on Friday following the release of corporate earnings for the first quarter, as the banking sector received support from JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo's gains.

 

The two banks announced quarterly earnings and profits higher than expected in the first quarter supported by investment activities.

 

While the energy sector received support from the rising oil prices and the announcement of a $33 billion takeover deal by Chevron deal to buy Anadarko Petroleum.

 

Meanwhile, Investors moved towards stock markets amid the market's sentiment about a possible US-China landmark trade deal.

 

In terms of  trading, Dow Jones rose by 0.8% (223 points) to 26,369 by 14:15 GMT, as Nasdaq also rose 0.4% (29 points) to 7,777 points, and Standard & Poor's rose by 0.6% (17 points) to 2905 points.
