The British pound rose against the US dollar today, to extend the gains streak it started after news emerged that United Kingdom had secured with the European Union a draft Brexit deal.
British PM Boris Johnson stated that the draft deal is great, and t he European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker said that it's fair and reflects the hard work that has been done from both sides to overcome differences.
Johnson urged the British lawmakers to support the deal, in order to move on other priorities such as protecting society from violent crimes, improving the standards of living and the environment protection.
The Prime Minister will put the draft deal before the British parliament for a vote on Saturday, in its final phase ahead of entering into force if the British lawmakers approve it.
While in case the parliament voted against the deal, Britain would most likely be forced to exit without a deal, which poses large economic risks. Thus, the deal might pass through to avoid these risks.
GBP/USD rose by 0.4% to $1.2946 as of 18:40 GMT, with a high of $1.2964 and a low of $1.2839.
